College of Education
Friends of the College of Edu-
cation, our development office
has initiated a campaign here
on campus to support stu-
dents and faculty through gift
giving. Supporting students
and faculty in the College is a
laudable goal for all of us. Do
you remember one faculty
member that helped you reach
your goals? Did you benefit
from a scholarship that helped
you pay your expenses? If so,
you might consider “paying it
forward.” We use gifts to
send students to state and
national professional meet-
ings and other activities that
can’t be supported with state
funds. We hope to continue
to do so through your gener-
osity. The College has several
dedicated scholarships in the
names of special friends of the
College. Adding to these me-

Brent Dawson was the College
of Education Outstanding
Graduate Student of the Year.
Brent is currently in the Edu-
cation Administration Pro-
gram working towards Princi-
pal Certification and is a 2004
graduate of ASU with concen-
trations on Kinesiology and
Mathematics. In his nomina-
tion documents, it was said
that “Brent is competent
enough to already have been
named the principal in his
district, even before he has
completed
his
graduate
coursework and certification
requirements. That his school
board did this is a tribute to
Brent’s leadership capabilities
and to his standing with stu-
dents, teachers and the com-
munity.” Brent is the PK-12
principal for Strawn ISD. Brent

Hightower and Bain.
