KDPInductsNewMembers,
HonorsOthers at SpringBanquet
KappaDeltaPi held its spring initiation banquet
inApril and51 students from both undergradu-
ate and graduate programswere honored as new
members ofKDP. At the banquet, honor cords
were also awarded to 22memberswhowere
graduating inMay2014. Over 145people
attended the springbanquet, which is a record
forKDP. Initiation ceremonieswere also held
online for those students at a distance and 20 of
the new students initiated participated in the
online ceremony. Also at the springbanquet, the
members of theMuGammaChapter honored
various educatorswho havemade a difference
for them.
Honoreeswere: EllenMoreland, from theASU
MathematicsDepartment, was nominated by
MelissaMisenhimer for her dedication to the
mathematic students and helping them achieve
100%passingon theTExESSecondaryMath
content examinations. SherryValentine, a retired
elementary teacher fromMarbleFalls,
nominated byMeghanMowrey formaking a
difference inMeghan’s life and helpingher
become an elementary teacher. Dr. Christine
Purkiss, ASUTeacher EducationProfessor and
KDP counselor, was nominated byHilda
Maughan andPattyRush for her dedication to
student achievement.
Dr. CharleneBustoswas the recipient of the 2014KDPAlumni
Award. The award recipient is determined by studentswho areKDP
members and goes to someone they feel exemplifies professional
standards, demonstrating dedication to students and to the field of
education. Congratulations, Dr. Bustos!
