University and featured the
research and creative endeavors
of 41 students.MissWarren, an
honors student, presented the
outcomes of her researchon
invented spellingwhich, as stated
in the abstract, "… determined
the point at whichdatawould
indicate that teachers should
switch from allowing students
to use invented spelling in
spontaneouswriting to teaching
correct spellingof
words" (2014).
Dr. ShirleyEoff directs the
Honors Program; and
Dr. SandraMaxedon, Depart-
ment of Teacher Education,
mentored the researchproject.

JimenaLulewas nominated as the 2014Master ofArts inCurriculum and InstructionDistinguished
Graduate Student byDr.KimLivengood.
Dr. Livengood says of Jimena, “Iwish everyone couldhave the experience of teaching such amotivated
student. She is creative and conscientious too and that is just the beginning.Musichas always been a part
of her life, so she decided to seek a degree inPerformingArtswith a teacher certification as PlanB here
at ASU, until she started student teaching. At that point she knew that waswhat shewanted todo. She
recognizes the value of an education andhas overcome challenges tomeet the requirements to teach and
now to pursue her graduate degree.” Jimena’sworkboth in classes and as a graduate assistant
demonstrates her admirablework ethic. She iswilling to helpothers andoften goes above and beyond
expectations. She is a self-starter and able toworkwithminimal input. She is highly respected byother
faculty, staff and students. Jimena has contributed to numerous projects in theCollege of Education,
includinggrants and courses.”
